2,255 students visit INS Shakti, INS Kirch
Visakhapatnam: Over 2,255 students from 48 various schools visited INS Shakti and INS Kirch ships on Saturday and Sunday from 9 am to 5 pm. Additionally, over 170 special children from 7 special schools also visited INS Kirch here on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.
INS Shakti is a versatile fleet tanker capable of multiship abeam and astern replenishment operations at sea. INS Kirch, the second ship of the Kora class corvettes fitted with an impressive array of weapons and sensors. The ships have been actively participating in various multinational exercises in the Indian ocean region and beyond as part of the Mission Deployments of the Eastern Fleet.
The two ships were kept open for the young visitors as part of Navy Day celebrations. Movies showcasing the might of armed forces and its functions towards national security were shown to the young minds.
The naval officials also conducted career counseling and special motivation classes to youth for choosing armed forces as a career option. The school children were very excited to be onboard Indian Navy warships and inquisitive to learn about the role of Indian Navy and life onboard ships. The special children also performed dance to the loud applause of one and all.
