Devineni terms raids on Sujana Chowdary part of revenge

Vijayawada: Water resources minister Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed Y Sujana Chowdary into his Cabinet in the past after taking all information, including his business activities, into consideration. He wondered as to how the Central agencies were finding faults with Sujana group of businesses at the behest of Prime Minister Modi after he left the NDA government.

Addressing the media at the Irrigation camp office here on Tuesday, Devineni said that the Centre was conducting raids against the leaders of TDP for raising their voice against the Prime Minister’s injustice to the state, he said while adding that Modi was threatening the Opposition parties in the country following unethical practices.   

He said that the state government was completing the Polavaram project speedily though the Centre did not release Rs 3,500 crore so far. Several records were registered in the construction work process, he said and added that the Opposition party was criticising the government without taking into consideration real progress of project.

He said that lakhs of people were visiting the Polavaram project every day. The state government diverted 266 tmc ft water from Pattiseema to Rayalaseema projects, he said and added that all the development was possible with the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He criticised Opposition leader YS Jaganmohan Reddy and legislators of YSR Congress for taking allowances while absenting themselves from 
Assembly. The Opposition party is also provoking other parties in the country against the developmental works and irrigation projects in the state, he said.
