Pawan Kalyan, Left leaders to tour Anantapur from Dec 2
Anantapur: Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan, CPI state Secretary K Ramakrishna and CPM state Secretary P Madhu will be touring the district for 5 days from December 2nd to 6th to interact with people and farmers to get first-hand information on prevailing drought conditions, according to CPI district secretary D Jagadish and CPM district secretary Ram Bhoopal.
Addressing a press conference at the CPI party office here on Monday, Jagadish described the Chief Minister’s 2-day visit to the district as a big farce on the people. The Chief Minister, who came on an official visit, had participated in party programmes and review meetings and did not care for the farmers’ problems.
The farmers, who expected him to make a statement on farm distress simply indulged in politicking and left the district giving no hope to the farmers. He never even referred to drought conditions in his review meeting nor did he give any assurance to the demands put forth by the Left parties when they met the Chief Minister.
Ram Bhoopal wondered how a Chief Minister, who stayed 2 days in the district, never bothered to make any statement on severe drought conditions prevailing in 38 mandals. Agriculture officers, who made a study, sent reports to the government confirming the drought conditions in 38 mandals.
