Tirupati: The long pending dream of TTD contract and outsourcing staff may come true as the TTD Trust Board is in favour of enhancing their salaries. According information, 14,500 contract and outsourcing staff are working in the TTD. The number is much higher than the permanent staff of 8,000.

At present, the TTD is spending towards Rs 140 crore annually towards the salaries of contract and outsourcing staff. Once the board accepts the recommendations of the sub-committee, the TTD has to incur an additional amount of Rs 60 to 70 crore per annum.

The TTD is paying salaries to contract and outsourcing employees in four categories. They are unskilled Rs 7,000; semi-skilled Rs 8,000; skilled Rs 9,000 and highly skilled Rs 10,500.

According to highly placed sources in the TTD, the sub-committee is going to recommend only three categories for enhanced salaries. For unskilled Rs 11,000, semi-skilled Rs 12,000 and skilled Rs 13,000.

The sub-committee consisting of TTD Chairman P Sudhakar Yadav, Challa Ramachandra Reddy, Sri Krishna and Rudra Raju Padma Raju have studied the present salaries of TTD contract and outsourcing staff and made recommendations accordingly.

The members of the sub-committee met TTD EO Anil Kumar Singhal and Financial Advisor O Balaji and working out the new salary enhancement
proposal.

The TTD considered for increasing salary of contract and outsourcing employees by appointing a sub-committee with its members after employees staged agitations in association with the CITU. Most likely, the TTD will make an announcement on Tuesday after board meeting at Annamayya Bhavan in Tirumala. However, the TTD may not hike salaries of contract and outsourcing employees working in the administration as office assistants and attenders.

Speaking to The Hans India, the Centre of India Trade Union (CITU) district president M Nagarjuna demanded that the TTD should pay equal wages for equal work as per the recent directions of the Supreme Court. “Our demand is to enhance the salary of contract and outsourcing employees to Rs 18,000,” he stated.
