Krishna district gets first electric car
Vijayawada: Vijayawada Municipal Corporation and Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will get 59 environmental friendly Electric cars soon. The State government has decided to supply the eco friendly and cost-effective electric cars through the Non-Conventional Energy Development Corporation of India.
District Collector B Lakshmikantham received the first car on Tuesday and made first drive to test the vehicle car near the camp office. The electric car can travel 130 km without break once the battery is charged and expenditure per km is only Rs.1.10.
Interacting with media after the test drive, Collector Lakshmikantham said the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation will get 24 electric cars and CRDA will get 35 cars.
Average price for travelling in petrol and diesel cars costs Rs.4 per kilo metre and more expensive compared to the electric car, which costs only Rs.1.10 per km. He said the State government signed MoU with Energy Efficiency Service Limited (EESL) to supply electric cars to the state government departments in a phased manner. He expressed satisfaction after the test drive.
