Workshop on green technologies organised

Tirupati: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Indian Green Building Council (IGBC), Sweden-India Business Council (SIBC) and Sri City jointly conducted a one-day workshop on ‘Smart Buildings in Smart Cities’ in Sri City on Tuesday.

Chairman, IGBC Amaravati Chapter, and Managing Director, S & S Green Projects Private Limited Vijay Sai Meka briefly explained the intent of conducting the workshop and appreciated the green and smart initiatives of Sri City.

Senior official of Swedish government, Albin Carlen and Executive Director, Swedish Smart Grid, Maria Sandqvist have explained the smart building technologies that will improve buildings' energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality, etc., The President (Operations), Sri City Satish Kamath welcomed the guests while Arati Davis, Vice-President, Sweden-India Business Council, and S Karthikeyan, Principal Counsellor, IGBC and a host of senior officials from IGBC and SIBC were present.

The main objective of the workshop was to facilitate implementation of green building and smart city concepts in India. The aim of the session was to create awareness on futuristic green technologies from Sweden to select the products and technologies for implementation in Indian projects and interact with the experts in the field.

Representatives of a few Swedish companies showcased their green technologies covering the subjects such as harvesting energy flows, chemical free washing, energy storage, smart metering solutions for energy and water and light urban vehicles. Commenting on the occasion, the Managing Director of Sri City Ravindra Sannareddy said that they were progressing with a commitment to set up sustainable eco-systems providing a ‘clean, green, breathe-easy’ industrial-urban agglomeration, built on the dictum of ‘work, live, learn and play,’ right from the design stage.
