Old Government General Hospital to get more beds from Dec 1

Vijayawada: The district administration will provide more beds at the pregnant women wing in the Old Government General Hospital from December 1. So far, the Old GGH has only 150 beds.

Now, some more beds will be added to the wing. Patients and other family members accompanying the patients are facing many hardships at the hospital due to space constraint in the hospital. Two women are sharing one bed on some occasions due to shortage of beds. In this backdrop, the state government issued orders in September 2018 to increase beds strength in the hospital.

Now, the district administration has decided to arrange some more beds and planning to unveil on December 1. District collector B Lakshmikantham on Wednesday conducted a review meeting with the General Hospital Development committee and expressed satisfaction over the increasing amenities in the New GGH.

He said AC arranged in the OP waiting hall and dining hall arranged for the in patients are very useful. He further said the government has recruited the nurses and paramedical staff on outsourcing basis at the New GGH. The collector said amenities in the New Government General Hospital were increased on par with the corporate hospitals in the city. He inspected the hospital with the Superintendent Dr S Babulal.
