ASSIST, MORE donate 150 bicycles to school children
Chirala: The ASSIST India and the MORE Foundation joined hands to donate 150 bicycles to the schoolchildren of Class VI to X from six high schools and one upper primary school in Vetapalem and Chirala mandals.
The representatives of the MORE Foundation, Evert and Elcola Holland handed over the vehicles to the district education officer VS Subbarao at the Zilla Parishad Girls High School in Eepurupalem, who presented the same to the 70 boys and 80 girls on Thursday.
Speaking to the students and their parents at the ZP Girls High School, the DEO appreciated the voluntary organisations for taking up a great initiative and advised the parents to utilize the support from the government and the organizations like ASSIST and MORE.
He asked them to send their children to school, without thinking about the dropping out due to family reasons, and help the children build their bright future.
J Rangarao, director of the ASSIST India said that their organization will always extend its cooperation to provide better amenities in schools so that they provide good education to the children. He promised to provide more bicycles to the remaining children in coming days.
The concerned MEOs, ASSIST staff and village development society members, parents and other villagers also participated in the programme.
