BCs want seats on population basis
Rajamahendravaram: Andhra Pradesh BC Samkshema Sangham president Kesana Shankar Rao, has underlined the need to elect all BC candidates in forthcoming elections by working in unison.
Participating in the sangham meeting held here on Thursday, he said as per the recommendations of Mandal Commission and Muralidhar Rao Commission, the BC population in the state was 52 percent. As per their population, the BCs should have the right to get 25 MLA seats and 13 MP seats in the state.
The BC census was stopped from the year 1931 and the government not taking up the census again. The BC population will be more than 52 percent now, he said.
He demanded that the political parties announce how many seats they will allot to BCs in the ensuing elections.
BC JAC chairman Margani Nageswara Rao, district president PR Krishna, greater president NG Krishna and others were present.
