Google Map to boost smooth ride on roads
Visakhapatnam: The Google here on Thursday showcased the Google Maps with latest features that can help people get around the city more easily. Two-wheeler mode, plus codes, maps go, local languages on maps, exploring local places, real-time location sharing, multi-stop directions, real-time traffic (including traffic alerts), maps on feature phones and local guides, all the offerings that make getting around in Visakhapatnam on a swift and more convenient.
The Google Maps announced the collaboration with the Andhra Pradesh Road Development Corporation (APRDC) to accurately map all the highways in the State. This includes the entire State highway network, with the correct numbers and names.
This is the first time Google Maps has worked so closely with a State government in India on mapping road networks. Addressing media conference on Thursday, Google Maps for India Director Krish Vitaldevara said that the Google Maps was not just about navigating from point A to B and building for India.
It will address the unique challenges and opportunities, with the sole aim of making Google Maps more comprehensive, accurate and reliable ensuring a hassle-free navigation, he added.
In the newly drafted designed, there were multiple service offers including two-wheeler mode, navigate and explore in local languages, easy setting of home and work locations, exploring local places through collections and photos, finding and sharing places using plus codes, sharing of local expertise, planning the road trips with multi-stop directions and search along route for unplanned requirements and others know the riders location in real time, Krish explained.
