Reliance Foundation helps farmers with info

Vijayawada: Reliance Foundation, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries, through its Reliance Foundation Information Services had been disseminating information to various sections of farmers including animal husbandry, dairy, sheep rearing,  fishermen, horticulture with the help its latest information technology, said Vasudha Jha, head of communications of Reliance Foundation while addressing newsmen here on Thursday.

Actually, the Reliance Foundation focused on seven core areas to serve the needy, rural transformation, health, education, education and sports for all, disaster response, arts, culture and heritage, and urban renewal, she said. The flagship company of Reliance, the Jio is helping them in this endeavour with its state-of-the-art technology by sending voice service message, video messages and even short messaging services, she added.

The information service is now helping 10.32 lakh farmers in the 13 districts of the state by taking the help of the local Siticable TV, Vasudha said. Dr B Vijayabhinandana, principal scientist and deputy director of Acharya NG Ranga Agricultrue University and Dr Gabriel, director of animal husbandry department are helping the foundation in disseminating information to the farmers.
