AP Energy Dept bags best performance awards

  • APGenco gets Prakashmay 12th Enertia Award for best performing utility in power generation in the country
  • APTransco CMD K Vijayanand awarded Life-Time Yeomen Contribution to Power and Renewables sector in public sector 

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh has been conferred with the top investment-friendly and infra excellent state in sustainable energy and power, while APGenco has been awarded the best performing utility in the sector of power generation by the Enertia Foundation at Prakashmay 12th Enertia Award- 2018 in Gujarat on Sunday.

The principal Secretary, IT, chairman and managing director (CMD) APTransco K Vijayanand has been  awarded prestigious Life-Time Yeomen Contribution to Power, Energy and Renewables sector in public sector-at-large. He received the award at SIECC (Surat International Exhibition and Conventional Centre) at Sarsana in Surat in Gujarat from Enertia foundation.

The jury of the award committee for Enertia Awards-2018 praised APGenco for its relentless efforts in sustaining as the best generation company with installed capacity of 6,813 MW, hydel-1,797 MW and solar power with capacity of 5,426 MW. They also appreciated AP’s initiatives in adopting the global technologies in power generation at par with advanced countries.

Vijayanand, who received the award, said that AP had achieved an exemplary performance in supply of 24x7 quality and reliable power and become power surplus in recent years. The installed capacity of generation registered 89 per cent growth in the last four years and transmission and distribution losses have reduced to 9.72 per cent,  lowest on record.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and other officials congratulated K Vijayanand for winning the life time award along with best performing utility award.
