Holy relics of Prophet Mohammed displayed at dargah

Vijayawada: Thousands of Muslims in Vijayawada thronged the Galib Shaheed Dargah located in Bhavanipuram to see the holy relics of Prophet Mohammad and his Sahabas  (companions) and Gouse-e-Pak Peer/preacher which were put on display on Monday. 

The Dargah committee has announced that this is the first of its kind that relics of Prophet Mohammed were displayed at Dargah. The event is known as Aasare Mubarak programme in the State. The hair of beard, moustache and head, clothes, chappal, Miswak, Surma, chadar and other items belonging to Prophet Mohammad, sand and holy water of Zamzam well and soil of Karbala ground were displayed under Aasare Mubarak.  

The Dargah committee said that Islamic scholar Syed Basheer Jahan Jami collected items long ago belonging to Prophet Mohammad and his companions during his visits to Madina of Saudi Arabia and later handed them over to his followers. Dargah committee president Md Musthak said that the Muslims of Vijayawada have requested for the display of holy relics and arrangements were made for it subsequently.
