Tourist spots to get facelift in Srikakulam

Srikakulam: Tourist and historical spots in the district will get a facelift soon as government has allotted Rs 5 crore funds for the purpose. Tourist and historical spots Telineelapuram in Tekkali mandal, Kailasagiri in Itchapuram mandal, beach at Ganagallapeta in Srikakulam rural mandal, museum at Seethampeta mandal, Deerghasi in Polaki mandal, beach at Kalingapatnam and Garimella library in Polaki mandal would be improved with the funds.

For various development works like, compound wall, concrete chairs and other facilities at Telineelapuram, Rs 1.5 crore has been allotted. For road facility and steps way at Kailasagiri, Rs 1 crore has been sanctioned. A sum of Rs 50 lakh was sanctioned for development works like huts construction at Ganagallapeta beach.

For tribal museum at Seethampeta, Rs 66 lakh was allotted to arrange all tribes related goods and arts in it to attract tourists from other areas. A meditation hall and a temple has been proposed at Deeraghasi with Rs 10 lakh where historical scripts and old acts are available. 

Another Rs 26 lakh was allotted for library construction in the name of freedom fighter Garimella Satyannarayana. Roads, lighting, concrete benches would be arranged at Kalingapatnam beach at a cost of Rs 1 crore. All the development works would be finished at a quick pace, said district tourism promotion officer (DTPO) N Narayana Rao.

Every year about 78,000 tourists from abroad are visiting all tourist spots, historical areas and spiritual centres in the district and another 20 lakh tourists from across the country are visiting various spots in the district. All the new development works are expected to enhance the flow of tourists to Srikakulam district.
