Minister Paritala Sunitha warns stringent action against sexual abusers

Anantapur: Minister for Woman and Child Welfare Paritala Sunitha has directed ICDS officials to take stringent action against those indulging sexual atrocities on minor girls.

Reacting to occurrence of such incidents in Kadiri area where girls and young women were being exploited for monetary gains, Sunitha warned that such atrocities would not go unpunished. When such atrocities occur, the victims should immediately inform police and officials to get the needed support and for apprehending of culprits, she said.

The minister, at a review meeting here on Monday,  said that the victims should be given all support including medical care, trauma management, counselling and rehabilitation. The ICDS has many schemes for the health of girls including providing of nutrition to adolescent girls.

She said that parents, family members and teachers should educate children on good touch and bad touch. She advised girls to call to the child helpline1098 in case of any problem  and 181 for getting police help. ICDS Project Director Chinmay Devi and others were present at the review meeting.
