Murder accused held; booty worth 7 lakh recovered

Rajamahendravaram: The crime police cracked a murder case and arrested the accused on Tuesday. The police recovered stolen property worth Rs 7  lakh from them.

Disclosing the details to the media at police guest house here, Additional Superintendent of Police (crimes) YV Ramana Kumar said that on a tipoff, the accused in the murder case Devadula Nageswara Rao was arrested at Sunnambatti near Lalachervu on Monday.

The stolen property such as ordinary eight gold bangles, stone-studded gold bangles 3, gold rings three, one gold chain, one pearl studded chain and a chain with gold mangala sutras were recovered.

The accused Devadula Nageswara Rao is a close relative of deceased Devadula Syamala. He studied up to Intermediate and worked in some private companies and later entered into real estate business.

He was accustomed to bad habits and having debts to the tune of Rs 6 lakh and the debtors mounted pressure on him to repay the loan amount. Later, he planned to kill his relative Syamala who possessed gold ornaments. The accused Devadula Nageswara Rao went to the house of Devadula Syamala on November 14 between 11.30 am and 1.30 PM and killed Syamala and decamped with the booty.

Prakash Nagar police registered a case with crime number 236/2018 under section-302 and 380 IPC and started searching for the accused. On the directions of urban Superintendent of Police Dr Shemushi Bajpayi, fourth town (crime) inspector C Murali Krisna Reddy investigated the case. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police (crimes) I Trinadh Rao supervised the investigation from time to time and congratulated the team which nabbed the accused.
