Visakhapatnam: Tense situation prevailed after the transgender representatives from 13 districts staged a dharna in front of Kancharapalem police station demanding to book a case against former Vizag Transgender Association president B Yellaji here on Wednesday.

The transgenders had organised a meeting in the city to fight against Yellaji, who has been harassing them for many years, urged the police to file a case him under Preventive Detention Act as they have a life threat from him. It may be recalled, recently some transgenders from the city had lodged a complaint against Yellaji at Gajuwaka police station on December 3 where he was having a rowdy-sheet on his name.

Yellaji was involved in many land dealing issues and a prime accused in the murder of a transgender Anusha. After coming out from jail on bail, Yellaji continued his domination on some of the transgenders and started harassing them for money.

The transgenders who were fed up with Yellaji harassment arranged a meet with 13 district transgender representatives. Meanwhile, on Wednesday morning, some unidentified persons had attacked Yellaji near Vizag railway station and now, he was undergoing treatment at KGH where his condition is said to be stable.

The transgender representatives from 13 districts alleged that it’s all part of Yellaji’s mind game to escape from legal action against him. If the Vizag administration and police fail to provide justice to them, the transgender representatives threaten to intensify their stir and stage dharna in front of Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandra Babu Naidu at Amaravati.
