VMC plays key role in selection of PMAY beneficiaries: JC 2 Pidugu Baburao

 Vijayawada: Krishna district Joint Collector 2 Pidugu Baburao said Vijayawada Municipal Corporation plays vital role in selection of beneficiaries in Prime Minister Awas Yojana Scheme and made it clear the revenue department staff conduct only verification works. 

Speaking to media at his chamber on Thursday, the Joint Collector said 200 villagers revenue officers were drafted for the verification of applications submitted by the applicants in Vijayawada city. 

He said the verification work was completed in 20 days and list of beneficiaries were selected by the VMC staff. He made this statement in view of the vigorous campaign in the city that political leaders play vital role in selection of beneficiaries. 

He said the district level committee comprises district collector, ministers, municipal commissioner would finalise the list of beneficiaries and there was no scope for irregularities. 

He said there was a huge demand for the PMAY houses in Vijayawada and recalled that houses were granted in Nandigama even without the verification of revenue staff. 

He has made it clear the stringent action would be taken against the revenue staff in case of irregularities noticed.
