Dr Ambedkar remembered on his 62nd death anniversary

Visakhapatnam: All party leaders, students and industrialists paid rich tributes to Architect of Indian Constitution Dr B R Ambedkar on his ‘Mahaparinirvan Diwas’ at various places in the city on Thursday.

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivas Rao garlanded the statue of B R Ambedkar at Dabagardens, where the programme was held by TDP SC cell leaders.
Speaking on the occasion, Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that Ambedkar was a world-renowned personality in ensuring justice, liberty and equality to all sections of people. He added the TDP was the only party which had introduced many welfare schemes for the development of SC/STs in the State.

In Andhra University, the students of SC community along with Minister of Tribal Health and Primary Education Kidari Sravan Kumar had paid floral tributes to Ambedkar on the occasion of his 62nd death anniversary. “Dr B R Ambedkar is a champion of the downtrodden and he was the symbol of hard work, love and humanity, a great political thinker, reformer and prolific writer,” Sravan Kumar described.

In Visakhapatnam Port Trust, B R Ambedkar’s 62nd death anniversary has been commemorated by VPT SC/ST Employees Welfare Association.
Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M T Krishna Babu, along with P L Haranadh, IRTS, Deputy Chairman, VPT, VVS Sreenivas, IRSME, Chief Vigilance Officer, VPT along with heads of departments, senior officers, staff, employees and the president and general secretary of VPT SC and ST Employees Association have participated in the programme conducted at Convent Junction.

Speaking on the occasion, VPT Chairman said that every citizen should live up to the principles and the goals of Dr BR Ambedkar and informed that a proposal for installation of bigger statue would be taken up at Convent Junction after resolving the traffic problem. On the occasion, notebooks were distributed to school children residing at Kobbarithota Ambedkar Colony.
