HCL Tech to establish R&D centre in AP State
Visakhapatnam: IT services major HCL Technologies expert team visited GITAM Deemed to be University here on Thursday. HCL Technologies Vice-President Shivashankar, Centre Head Subbraman, Recruitment division Deputy Manager Shaik Ahmed Alisha interacted with GITAM President M Sri Bharat. Later the team met the university VC Prof M S Prasada Rao, Pro-VC Prof K Sivarama Krishna, Registrar Prof M Potharaju and others.
During the interaction HCL Vice-President Shivashankar informed that the company was establishing biggest R&D centre in Andhra Pradesh to focus on emerging technologies. She said that HCL has aimed to encourage local talent and selecting few universities like GITAM for academic tie ups. She mentioned that HCL wants to strengthen R&D wing with NRI experts who went to the US and other places from AP.
She said that HCL interested to relate with engineering, science and management departments. GITAM VC Prof MS Prasada Rao said that the university is closely associated with various industries like Dr Reddy’s Lab, Laurus Labs and offering industry-based programmes. He expressed that the university is ready to extend its support to industries to train the skilled manpower.
He thanked HCL officials for choosing GITAM for academic relations. GITAM Institute of Technology Principal Prof K Lakshmiprasad, Institute of Science Principal Prof K Arun Lakshmi, Institute of Management Principal Prof P Sheela, GITAM School of International Business Industrial Relations Director Prof Raja P Pappu participated in the discussions.
