Vijayawada: Over 100 prominent jewellery manufacturers and wholesalers participated in the three-day ‘Grand Abhushanam’ a B2B exhibition which was inaugurated by Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development Dr P Narayana at SS Convention Centre here on Friday. The expo was organised by All India Gem and Jewellery Domestic Council (GJC).
Speaking on the occasion, Narayana said that about four lakh families were earning their livelihood in this industry. He recalled chief minister Chandrababu Naidu’s wish that all major events in the country should be showcased in Amaravati which would boost the economy of state.
He said that AP stands first in ease of doing business and appreciated the organisers of the expo.
Vice-chairman GJC Anantha Padmanaban said, “A lot of efforts has been made to ensure to give the best to the industry. The expo will showcase variety of new designs, innovative creations and extraordinary handmade gold jewellery collections.
Over past many weeks, we have done various road shows and promotions across the southern region and the jewellers are really excited to visit the Grand Abhushanam.”
Ashok Kumar Jain, convener of Grand Abhushanam and director, GJC said that the idea behind GJC coming with a trade event like Abhushnam was not only to boost the trade in small towns and cities but also bring to mainstream the local manufacturers from small towns in association with the local trade bodies.
“Now we are planning to organise Abhushanam in various parts of the country whereby every jeweller in the country will be on the same page whether they are based in villages, small towns or mega cities,” he added.
