Aim for first rank, MCT tells stakeholders
- Civic body implements four-pronged strategy
- MCT chief asks teachers and division in-charges to aim for top place
Tirupati: With an aim to achieve first rank in the forthcoming Swachh Survekshan 2019 competitions, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) authorities are creating awareness among the stakeholders of the temple city. It may be noted that the MCT secured sixth spot in Swachh Survekshan-2018 rankings.
Only one month left to prepare the stakeholders for Swachh Survekshan rankings, civic staff have started creating awareness on sanitation programmes. MCT Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju has met private, government and municipal school teachers and counselled them to take active participation in the ensuing Swachh Survekshan activities.
In the last three days, more than 500 teachers were directly educated by the civic body chief on maintenance of sanitation and segregation of garbage.
He directed teachers to educate children and their parents about the sanitation and keeping surroundings clean.
On Saturday, Vijaya Rama Raju held a meeting with all division in-charges, sanitary inspectors, masons and special officers. He informed them to aim for first rank in the forthcoming Swachh Survekshan contest. He instructed civic staff to work with dedication for fulfilling the ranking parameters in the coming days.
For better maintenance of sanitation, staff should continue friendly relations with the residents in the respective divisions, he said. MCT authorities are implementing four-pronged strategy to get top spot in rankings.
They are segregation of waste at residential houses, collection of 100 per cent garbage from every division, imposing plastic ban effectively at individual-level across the city and prevention of open defecation among the denizens.
On the instruction of MCT chief, civic body secretary S Manohar is closely monitoring day-to-day sanitation maintenance at division-level and alerting the staff if he noticed any problem related to sanitation.
Speaking to The Hans India, Manohar said that sanitation workers are implementing four-pillar strategy. With the previous experience, Vijaya Rama Raju is taking measures to compete with other cities in national-level Swachh survey, he stated.
