Visakhapatnam: For the first time since 1999 the People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army (PLGA) week was observed without any damages caused in the Agency. The district police were succeeded in countering the untoward incident in the week-long programme with the help of people at Agency. The PLGA week was observed from December 2 to 8.

Generally the PLGA week was observed by conducting meetings and rallies in all villages by focusing on recruitment of new cadres and to pay tributes to those who were killed in encounters with the special forces and police.

As there is a prior information with the police department, they had tightened the security by deploying special forces at agency and naxal affected areas without interrupting the tourist flow.

The district police also succeeded in bringing awareness among the tribes by conducting rallies against the naxal activities.

Speaking on this occasion Superintendent of Police Attada Babujee said that due to the week-long celebrations of the naxals, some of the tribes in the hamlets of agency who are suffering with malaria and other viral diseases due to climatic changes were afraid to come out from their houses for treatment as the naxal will harass them for providing hospitality and food.

Babujee said that now the anti-naxal movement was started among the tribes at agency as there is no individual participation found among tribes from Visakha agency in the PLGA week-long programme.

He also appealed to naxals nothing will be benefited to the people with their bandh and movement except troubling the lives of innocent people at agency.
