1 lakh crore misappropriated in Amaravati capital works: Jana Chaitanya Vedika

Visakhapatnam: Jana Chaitanya Vedika State president and former High Court Justice P Lakshman Reddy on Sunday alleged that Rs one lakh crore was misappropriated in the name of construction of Amaravati capital.

The Jana Chaitanya Vedika has conducted a meeting in the name of ‘Save Andhra Pradesh’ in all the 13 districts. As part of it, the JCV conducted a programme in the city on Sunday.

Presiding over the meeting, Lakshman Reddy said that the State government was intentionally disturbing all the constitutional systems and working with vested interests. He alleged that the TDP government was involved in several financial irregularities in the State.

Slamming the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly Speaker's attitude, Reddy said the Speaker has failed to take any action on 23 YSRCP MLAs, who joined TDP without resigning from their party. Unfortunately, the TDP government had offered them ministerial posts for four MLAs.

Ironically, Reddy said the state was in 32nd position in literacy and occupied top slot in the corruption. He added JCV was conducting the programmes to create awareness among people.

Speaking in the meeting, former MP Vundavalli Arunkumar expressed concern over the commercialisation of politics. He called upon people to be more careful in electing their leaders.

Former union secretary EAS Sarma said the manifestoes should be prepared by the people not by the political parties in the elections.
