Jute is only alternative to prevent plastic menace

Srikakulam: Jute-based products are only alternative to prevent plastic menace, suggested CEO of Pulsus and Omics Dr Srinubabu Gedela. He delivered a lecture at Rythu Sadassu at Rajam on Monday and explained that jute crop cultivation and its products were good for environment and use of these products would help in prevention of negative effects of plastic products.

Due to rampant use of plastic goods is leading to cancer and other deadly diseases, he warned. For the last 30 years, cancer cases have been increasing in north coastal AP districts due to use of plastic instead of jute products, he explained. He suggested the government to promote jute cultivation by providing enough incentives to its farmers and sought revival jute of mills in Rajam as it was hub of jute mills.
