Sakhi team creates awareness on atrocities
Ongole: The Sakhi team, women police wing, in the Ongole sub-division visited the Orchids School in Ongole on Monday and created awareness on the importance of education to women, how to protect themselves from the atrocities and attacks and boosted the morale of the girls.
Orchids School correspondent G Ajay Kumar said that on average one woman in the country is facing atrocities for every three minutes. He said that though the country received freedom 70 years ago, women didn’t get the freedom to express self.
He said that women needs education along with the physical and mental strength and with that only we can save them from atrocities. He appreciated the Sakhi team for coming for rescue of women irrespective of age, caste and creed.
O Venkateswarlu, the Sakhi team in-charge said the team works to protect women from atrocities and help the victims to regain strength to move ahead in life.
He said that the team also protects the girls and women from eve-teasing and other violence. The team members explained the girls on methods to protect themselves from the teasing and body attacks along with the techniques to reciprocate.
The school principal, M Sridevi and other staff members also present in the awareness programme.
