Vijayawada: The last date for submission of applications for the Holy Haj tour is December 12. The pilgrims should register their names on or before the due date, according to a press release by AP Haj Committee Executive Officer Mohammed Liyakhat Ali here on Monday.

He stated that the pilgrims have to utilise the government provision as it saves nearly half of the amount collected by the private operators.

The private travel operators collect nearly Rs 4 lakh for the Haj tour and the pilgrims can perform Haj with just Rs 2 lakh by going through the Haj Committee, he said.

He informed that nearly 500 devotees visited holy city of Makkah through private travels during previous year. He suggested the pilgrims to save money through the Haj Committee provisions.

He said that about 3,000 pilgrims can perform Haj tour based on the Andhra Pradesh state quota.

He also mentioned that the Telangana State quota was over and the AP quota was not yet completed as sufficient applications were not received from the prospective pilgrims, he stated.

Haj Committee EO appealed the Muslim fraternity in Andhra Pradesh to utilise the tour with Haj Committee.

He informed that the veterans who exceeded 70 years age would be treated as reserve category and stated that the passport validity must be till 31st January 2020, said Liyakhat Ali.
