Bets reportedly made to the tune of 500 cr
Amaravati: Betting to the tune of at least Rs 500 crore reportedly took place on Tuesday. Interestingly, followers of both TDP and YSRCP parties were involved in betting over the election results of Telangana Assembly.
Those who believed the survey of former MP Lagadapati Rajagopal invested in bets in favour of People's Front in Telangana elections. Majority of the losers were TDP followers, as Lagadapati had forecast results in favour of the People’s Front and stated that the TRS could get 35 seats (+ or – 10) to the TRS.
A senior TDP leader informed that at Narasaraopet in Guntur district, a person indulged in betting to a tune of over Rs 20 lakh, based on Lagadapati survey. It is learnt that several TDP sympathisers invested in favour of People's Front.
The speculations on prospects of individual candidates like Nandamuri Suhasini, DK Aruna, Congress star campaigner A Revanth Reddy of Kodangal Assembly segment, K Jana Reddy, former Minister, K Jeevan Reddy of Jagitial, many areas where Andhra migrants could influence the polls, individual seats of TDP contestants and many other aspects prompted the bettors to indulge in betting, according to the sources.
A senior TDP leader in the State pointed out that the bets increased after conclusion of the polling. Several people indulged in bets based on exit polls.
Those who invested in bets in favour of TRS victory have been celebrating now as they got money. “At least bets to the tune of Rs 500 crore were made in the State during the last three days. The TDP followers invested in bets following the forecast by Lagadapati Rajagopal. Not only the TRS leaders, but also some people in AP expressed anger over him for making wrong prediction”, a source explained.
