Competitions held to mark KU youth fest

Vijayawada: As part of the Krishna University Youth Festival 2018-19, various district-wise competitions were conducted at Maris Stella College on Tuesday.

Competitions like Debate, Quiz, Singing, Rangoli, Elocution, poster presentation, mono action, solo instrument, classical dance, group dance, patriotic items, essay-writing and others were organised by the NSS volunteers of various colleges.

The competitions were earlier conducted on December 9 at Vijayawada, Machilipatnam and Nuzvid by the Krishna District NSS coordinator CM Vinay Kumar.

Speaking on the occasion, Vinay Kumar said that NSS is helpful to students as well as society in various ways. It aims to inculcate social welfare in students and provide service to society without bias, he said.

The college NSS coordinator Dr Rajendra Prasad said the motto of NSS ‘Not Me But You’ reflects the need for selfless service and to show consideration for fellow human beings.

The competitions were held with the themes of Swatch Bharat and on the importance of women education and the winners of this district-level competitions will be selected for state-level competition.

Supriya, Dr P Usha and other lecturers along with 200 NSS volunteers participated in the programme.
