KL University gets Category 1 with NAAC A ++ grade

Vijayawada: The University Grants Commission (UGC) has granted Category-1 to KL University, which was accorded with A++ grading earlier by NAAC. KL Education Foundation secretary Koneru Sivakanchana Latha at a press conference held here on Wednesday expressed her delight that only 26 academic institutes in the country have this recognition. While two Central Universities, 12 State Universities and 12 Deemed Universities have the recognition, KLU joined them now, she added.

KLU vice-chancellor LSS Reddy said that with the help of UGC-1 ranking, UGC has emphasised that many Degree and Post Graduation courses are offered through open and distance learning and many new courses can also be opened without waiting for any clearance.

This will make it easier for those who want to pursue higher education while doing jobs. Now, both Vijayawada and Hyderabad campuses have been proposed to provide all the courses to the students from the coming academic year and to set up all the necessary infrastructure. Registrar Dr T Umamaheswara Rao, dean Dr Ramakrishna and others were present.
