Row over location of proposed steel plant

Kadapa: A section of TDP leaders from Kadapa district are pressuring the State government to change the location of proposed steel plant from Kambaladinne village in Jammalamadugu mandal to Kamalapuram constituency.

Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will be laying foundation stone for steel plant on December 27. It may be recalled that availability of natural resources, infrastructure facilities like water, land, road and rail connectivity, the state government has proposed Jammalamadugu is the suitable place for setting up a steel plant. 

Even, the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL) has also proposed to construct the steel plant at Jammalamadugu. In this connection, Steel Plant Sadhana Samithi (SPSS) President G Praveen Kumar Reddy organised a huge rally along with students and section of people in Proddatur town on Wednesday, demanding the government to stick to its earlier decision. 

Addressing the public meeting, he said that it will be more beneficial to Proddatur constituency if the steel plant is set up in Jammalamadugu. SPSS President has warned of intensifying the agitation if the government shifts the location of steel plant to Kamalapuram constituency.
