70 model police stations to come up across AP State

Kadapa: Deputy Chief Minister and home minister Nimmakayala Chinarajappa said to maintain law and order in an effective manner in the state, the government sanctioned 70 model police stations across the state.

Speaking to media persons after inaugurating the two model police stations each built at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore in Kadapa and Rayachoti towns on Friday, the home  minister said that the aim of the government was to ensure peaceful life for people without facing any problems on law and order front.

He said various crimes like cricket betting, thefts, atrocities against women, murders, ganja, red sander smuggling, cybercrimes had come down drastically compared with earlier after establishment of model police stations.

“Investigation procedures have become easier with the adoption of latest technology installed in the model police stations with police cracking the cases immediately after they took place. The Chief Minister is keen to make AP as the most liveable state in the country by adopting highly sophisticated technologies,” he said. 

The home minister claimed that red sanders smuggling had come down steeply in Kadapa district following special attention paid by the Chief Minister by setting up special task force to curb the crime. Several notorious international and national smugglers were arrested in the last four years by Kadapa police, he added.

He said there was shortage of about 15,000 personnel in different cadres in the department at the time of state bifurcation in AP and the government had filled 6,000 vacancies and another 3,150 vacancies were going to be fulfilled soon.

Chinarajappa said crops were lost in 1,600 hectare in Kadapa district in the current rabi season as severe drought conditions prevailed in all 51 mandals in the district. He said the government would help the farmers after the issue was brought to the notice of the Chief Minister. He said government has spent Rs 50,000 crores on irrigation works to lift the living standards of farmers.
