AP bags National Energy Conservation Award-2018
Vijayawada: The efforts of Andhra Pradesh government in promoting and implementing energy efficiency and energy conservation measures have received appreciation at the national level again with the Union ministry of power selecting the AP State Energy Conservation Mission (APSECM) as winner of the National Energy Conservation Award-2018 for the fourth consecutive term under State Designated Agency (SDA) category. The AP is the only state in India which has received this national award every year since 2015.
Loksabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan and Union minister of state for power, new and renewable energy R K Singh presented the prestigious NECA-2018 at Vignan Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday on the occasion of the National Energy Conservation Day to A Chandra Sekhara Reddy, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), APSECM (State Energy Conservation Mission) on behalf of AP government.
CGM (Planning, APSPDCL) Yesunadha also received certificate of merit award for energy efficiency on behalf of Andhra Pradesh Southern Power Development Corporation Limited (APSPDCL) for its best performance in the category of discoms.
Speaking on the occasion, R K Singh urged the state governments to intensify the energy efficiency and energy conservation movement in their respective states at all levels and sought cooperation for achieving the national target of BEE to tap energy efficiency potential of around 500 billion units by 2030 for the enhancement of National Economy.
On this occasion, CEO SECM Chandra Sekhar Reddy reading out the message of principal secretary for energy Ajay Jain, said that the unstinted support and guidance of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu towards energy efficiency and stakeholder support was the key driver for achieving the consecutive National Awards.
