Ongole: Prakasam District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand and DEO VS Subbarao ordered the schools under all managements in 14 coastal mandals to remain closed on Monday as they will be affected by the cyclone Phethai during its landfall near Uttarandhra.
The instructions from the Collector and DEO offices said that the schools under government, aided and private managements in Ongole, Tangutur, Singarayakonda, Ulavapadu, Gudluru, Jarugumalli, Kothapatnam, NG Padu, Chinaganjam, Vetapalem, Chirala, Karemchedu, Kandukuru and SN Padu mandals will be closed on Monday.
They said that the holiday is only for the students but not for the staff. They ordered the teachers and midday meal workers to attend the schools and participate in the cyclone relief works, after the head master reporting to the special officer for the respective mandal. The educational officers in the mandals are asked to be available at the Tahsildar’s office and cooperate with the officers.
The headmasters are asked to prepare food and other items by deputing the midday meal staff and permitted to utilise the groceries and commodities in the schools if necessary. They ordered the MEOs and head masters to not allow children and public into dilapidated buildings.
The collector and DEO warned the staff that everyone must be available for the cyclone relief works and serious action will be initiated against those who are found to be negligent.
