29,021 candidates appear for SI prelims exam

Visakhapatnam: In all, 29,021 candidates gave their Sub-Inspector of Police prelims exam from the three north coastal districts here on Sunday at 49 various examination centres in the city.

According to the police sources, around 10 centres were allocated at Andhra University. As the impact of Cyclone Phethai was high with gusty winds on Sunday morning, the personnel at the exam centres were well prepared in providing electricity through generators and made alternative arrangements for providing lighting facility at the exam centres.

The candidates reached to the exam centres before 9 am as per the instructions given and the prelims examination was conducted between 10 am to 12:30 pm in the first session and 2:30 pm and 5:30 pm in the second session.  APSRTC had arranged special buses from Srikakulam and Vizianagaram to facilitate the SI aspirants to reach the exam centres on time.

Around nine Circle Inspectors from the city along with their staff had visited the 49 exam centres as part of their squad duty, to avoid any untoward incidents near centres. Vizianagaram Additional SP Narasimha Rao has been the nodal officer for the conduct of examination.

Under the aegis of Visakha DIG Ch Srikanth, all the arrangements were made at the exam centres. Due to the technical issues, some candidates failed to register their identity. The candidates were allowed for the exam on production of hard original copy of government issued identity card along with a colour passport size photograph.
