Civic body procures 11 mini trucks, 270 pushcarts for better sanitation

Tirupati: The Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) has procured mini trucks and pushcarts for better sanitation maintenance. As part of sanitation maintenance, all the 50 divisions in Tirupati city were divided into 270 micro packets.  

Presently, MCT employees have been using huge trucks and automatic dumper placers for garbage clearance at division level. In the process, staff are facing hardship in garbage clearing in narrow streets and congested roads. With a view to solve the problem, the civic body officials have purchased 11 mini Mahindra trucks, each with 1.5 tonne capacity, and  270 steel frame pushcarts for  garbage clearance.

In the view of Swachha Survekshan 2019 competition MCT officials have bought these trucks and pushcarts  to give better service to the denizens in garbage clearance.  The eleven mini trucks will be used at colonies and pushcarts are allotted divisions, each division will get one push cart for 100% door to door garbage collection. The commissioner directed the officials to set up GPS tracking for all the garbage transport vehicles. 

In addition, the civic body is planning to purchase two colour dust bins for dry and wet waste for free distribution to the people and to involve them in Swachha Survekshan competition.

MCT engineering department has spent Rs 2 crores  for purchasing of vehicles and other sweeping machines. Now onwards big size trucks will be used only at wide streets.

MCT Commissioner V Vijaya Rama Raju said,``We are trying to give better service to the denizens in sanitation maintenance. Soon we will hand over the pushcarts to our sanitary workers in division.’’
