District administration put on high alert in Guntur

Guntur: The district administration was put on high alert to face cyclone threat and special officers were appointed to plan at cyclone centres. The district administration set up 47 cyclone centres in the sea prone mandals in Tenali revenue division and made necessary arrangements to shift the families residing in the low-lying areas, in case of need. NDRF teams are ready take up rescue operations in the sea prone mandals.

The third danger signal hoisted at Nizampatnam harbour and all the fishermen who went into the sea for fishing came back. Special chief secretary to government Poonam Malakondaiah directed the medical and health department officials to make necessary arrangements to conduct health camps and keep stocks of medicines ready to meet any situation.

The medical and health department is ready to conduct health camps at cyclone centres. Fisheries department officials directed the fishermen not to venture into the sea till further orders. Deputy Transport Commissioner Rajaratnam urged people to cancel their travel plans on the highways during cyclones and stay at safer places.

District revenue officer G Srilatha said, "The district administration has taken all the precautionary measures to face cyclone threat. We have set up 47 cyclone centres to shift the people during emergency."
