RS MP requests Union Minister for ESI hospital

Nellore: Rajya Sabha member Vemireddy Prabhakar Reddy appealed to Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment Santosh Gangwar to establish an ESI Hospital in Kalichedu village of Sydapuram mandal for the benefit of silica and mica workers. He called on the Union Minister in New Delhi on Monday. Prabhakar Reddy explained about hardships being faced by the silica and mica workers due to lack of ESI Hospital.

He informed that 50 bedded hospital and 30 bedded TB Hospital located in Kalichedu village were shut down due to various reasons. As many as 3,000 people have been working in silica and mica mines in Sydapuram mandal and were facing difficulties with no medical facility in the region. He explained to the Minister also to consider starting a school in these two villages.

There is also a need to construct a hospital along with adequate staff members for the benefit of workers, explained the RS Member Prabhakar Reddy. He said the Union Minister Santosh Gangwar assured him of that he would consider the issues and take necessary steps to provide facilities to the workers.
