Tirupati: Former MP and Congress leader Chinta Mohan has demanded that the State government  give give priority to Tirupati denizens in getting Lord Venkateswara darshan in Tirumala. He questioned the TTD authorities, why the people of Tirupati were not eligible for L1 darshan which is provided to VVIPs and those on protocol.

Resenting the attitude of TTD in this regard, he made a demonstration in front of TTD Administrative Building here on Monday along with other leaders and Congress workers. They raised slogans against TTD and in favour of priority in darshan for local people.

Speaking on the occasion, Mohan said that the TTD has been rolling out red carpet to big industrialists and cinema personalities and arranging darshan at Tirumala and ignoring local people which is not correct on its part.

He said that people feel fortunate to born in Tirupati and live here at the abode of Lord Venkateswara. Still, they could not get darshan of their god. He recalled that denizens being given priority in getting darshan at Shirdi and Sabarimalai and asked why not TTD follow it.

On every Vaikunta Ekadasi Day and January 1, the TTD must provide L1 darshan for denizens of Tirupati, he demanded. Congress leaders P Naveen Kumar Reddy, Prameelamma and others also were present.
