Volly player Sushamna aiming for national records

Vijayawada: Sushamna, national Volleyball player and a junior intermediate student studying MEC at Maris Stella College here is aims high to play for the country and win while making the country and her native place proud. 

She has played about ten national matches and received a good number of medals for her excellent performance under the guidance of coach R Rambabu.

Speaking to the Hans India Sushamna said she has been interested in Civil Services and would want to serve the nation. 

With her interest towards sports she joined the school sports team in Class VII and played about 35 tournaments at both State and National level and received 35 medals and 7 shields. 

She was selected for 10 nationals and participated in eight nationals. She is a strong player and a hard hitter and good at spiking and service. 

Sushamna said that with her parents father G Sudhakar Rao, farmer and mother Suneetha who is a home maker supported her in sports in spite of financial problems to excel and reach to this position.  

She was accompanied by her father through all the tournaments. She further said that if someone recognises her talent and sponsors her training and diet she can further excel in the sport.

Coach Rambabu said that she is a tough contender to the opponents and a hard hitter of the ball and plays the game like a boy. 

Her moments are quick and fast and use spiking mostly as the best technique to dominate in the game, said Rambabu and added she practices at VS St John’s School for three hours daily.

V Swapna faculty of the college said that she is good at studies too and secured good marks. 

The multi-talented girl is third in class and has very good knowledge on current affairs and also participated in elocution, essay writing and dance competitions in the college and won many prizes.

Dr Sr Rekha Stella, intermediate vice-principal Dr Asha kumari, and other faculty are very cooperative to achieve success.
