AP tops in helping farmers: Somireddy
Rajamahendravaram: Minister for agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said that the TDP government was in the forefront in helping the farmers in the country. Speaking to reporters at R&B guest house here on Tuesday, the agriculture minister said the state government had decided to sanction financial assistance of Rs 15,000 per hectare for paddy as against Rs 13,500 fixed by the Central government.
For loss of sugarcane crop, the state government will give an amount of Rs 12,500 per hectare as against of Rs 6,800 fixed by Central government. For maize, the state government will give Rs 15,000 per hectare as against of Rs 6,800 of Central government’s recommendation and for tobacco Rs 10,000 per hectare will be given. The state government is giving high amount to the farmers than central government, he added.
The minister said there was no human or property loss due to proactive measures taken by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The Chief Minister deputed IAS officers to all districts to monitor the things and some ministers sat at RTGS centre and issued directions from time to time, he added.
He said the compensation to the farmers would be given shortly as many teams were conducting enumeration to know the loss in the seven districts. Anapathi MLA N Rama Krishna Reddy was present.
