CPI demands cash compensation to farmers who lost crops

Kakinada: The CPI's East Godavari unit demanded Rs 30,000 compensation for paddy per acre to those farmers who lost their standing crop due to Phethai cyclone. The party team led by district secretary T.Madhu visited inundated paddy fields in Kakinada rural and Pithapuram mandals on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the CPI leader said that due to liberalised polices of the government the farmers are worst affected.
The CPI team also visited Peddapuram and Kirpampudi areas and found the banana crop lost due to gales in the last two days. The team demanded Rs 50,000 per hectare as compensation.
District AITUC district secretary T. Prasad and other leaders participated.
