Phethai: Crop loss put at 243 cr
Amaravati: Crops worth more than Rs 243 crore in an extent of 74,432 acre was damaged in Andhra Pradesh due to Cyclone Phethai, said agriculture minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy. Addressing the press conference at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Chandramohan Reddy explained that agriculture crops were in over 60,000 acre causing a loss to the tune of Rs 115 crore.
Horticulture crops were damaged in around 14,000 acre, causing a loss of Rs 128 crore. He said that even on Wednesday rainfall was recorded at various places in the state, which would further increase the damage to agriculture and horticulture crops. He assured that the state government would provide input subsidy to all the Phethai-affected farmers in a couple of days.
