Vietnam to help State in processing of aqua products

Amaravati: A delegation from Vietnam expressed interest in extending knowledge and technology in exploring aqua products and in aqua food processing sectors to Andhra Pradesh, during its interaction with Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu in the Secretariat on Wednesday.

The delegation led by Pham Vu Hong, chairman of People’s Committee of Kien Giang province, Vietnam, met Chandrababu Naidu and explained their expertise in aqua food processing in providing value addition and offered to share it with AP.

It may be noted that major part of aqua production from India will go to Vietnam for processing and value addition. The Vietnam people are experts in processing fish, prawns and other marine products in addition to rice.

Pham Vu Hong said that they were ready to extend cooperation in processing of fish and rice. The Chief Minister agreed to extend cooperation in sharing knowledge in information technology and aqua food processing.

AP fisheries commissioner Ramsankar Naik said Vietnam would extend cooperation to provide 40 per cent value addition to marine products. Marine Products Exports Development Authority (MPEDA) joint director Anil Kumar, Chief Minister’s secretary A Rajamouli and others were present.
