Artistes to create awareness on save girl child

Vijayawada: Over 200 artistes will perform cultural programmes across the State to create awareness on save girl child programme, ‘Beti Bachao and Beti Padao’ being implemented by the Union government.

The two-day training programme was organised by the Union government at the Government College of Music and Dance on Tuesday and Wednesday to 200 odd artistes, who came from different parts of the State.

These artistes are trained with special script and subject to explain the people particularly the rural folks on Beti Bachao and Beti Padao. TVK Reddy, Additional Director General of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana region supervised the training programme.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, Reddy said 21 troupes consists of 10 members each will tour across the State and create awareness on gender bias prevailed in the society and explain the need for protection of girl child. He said the Centre would sanction Rs 10,000 for performing each programme to the artistes.
