Mini rice mills for farmers
Polavaram: The State government has launched an ambitious plan to supply mini rice mills to the farmers of KotturuCheruvu ayacut under the limits of Polavaram village panchayat to improve their financial condition.
Mandal agriculture officer K Vijay Kumar said that the mini rice mills each costing Rs 37,000 would be given to the farmers with fifty per cent subsidy.
The farmers of BuruguvariGedda, KotturuCheruvu, Venkanna, Kamayamma, Gadala, Peddakurividi ayacut would be given the mini rice mills which were sponsored by the World Bank after its team visited the area and proposed to the Bank. It is hoped that these rice mills would help the farmers to strengthen their financial condition. In all, so far only seven rice mills arrived for distribution.
The farmers could keep their rice mills at their home and run them on single phase power supply. The rice mills would work for six hours continuously the power consumption would be two units per hour, the official said.
