Research should benefit farmers: ANGRAU Vice-Chancellor

Tirupati: Addressing the 48th research and extension advisory council meeting at RARS here on Wednesday, the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University (ANGRAU) Vice-Chancellor (V-C) V Damodar Naidu said that results of agricultural research should reach the farmers at right time to get more yield and profits.

In the meeting, the V-C exhorted the scientists to take up research which benefits farmers. He called upon the farmers to use farm pond technology, micro irrigation and polyethylene mulching units to save water and to bring more area under cultivation. 

ANGRAU Director (Research) Dr N V Naidu has explained about the action taken report for the problems raised by the farmers in earlier meeting. He informed that nutrition, economic and health securities are also important besides the food security. 

Later, Director (Extension) Dr P Ramesh Babu highlighted the varsity extension activities which were taken up in 2017-18. In the meeting, agricultural scientists and farmers were present.
