Banking services paralysed
Tirupati: Banking services were hit with All India Bank Officers Confederation (AIBOC) has called for a day long strike over their pending demands. They were demanding the Centre for full and unconditional mandate for the bipartite wage revision talks based on charter of demands submitted by them.
They have been asking for wage revision based on the minimum wages formula without linking to profits or paying capacity. The AIBOC has been opposing the merger of Bank of Baroda, Dena bank and Vijaya bank. They were also pressing for work life balance for officers.
Another demand was the reinstatement of old pension and family pension scheme and abolition of new pension scheme. About 450 employees have participated in the strike relating to the public sector banks excluding new public sector banks.
The President of SBI Officers Association Kishore Kumar, General Secretary Surya Kumar, Deputy General Secretary T Venkatapathi, Munuswamy, Nagaraja Reddy, Saravanan, Mounika and others took part in the strike. Former MP Chinta Mohan went to the striking officers and expressed solidarity to their agitation and demands.
