Spectator galleries coming up on Krishna river bunds
Vijayawada: The Tourism department is making plans to provide sitting facility at various places and ghats in the Krishna river course under the purview of Amaravati capital location.
The sitting provision will help the department in promotion of tourism and the viewers can watch water sports and air shows without any confusion and inconvenience.
According to officials, the Tourism department has finalised plans in this regard. Under the plan, Ferry ghat, Bhavani ghat, Durga ghat, Punnami ghat and Gollapudi in the stretch of Prakasam barrage to Ibrahimpatnam will be developed to attract more tourists in Krishna district limit.
Similarly, several stretches from Harichandrapuram to Prakasam barrage in Guntur district limits, under the purview of Amaravati capital, will also get recognition as tourist hub soon. Especially the sitting facility and greenery development will attract tourists in the stretch of Krishna river course area.
In fact, MLA Gadde Rammohan submitted a detailed plan in the past for introducing the facilities in the downstream area of Prakasam barrage. Now, the Tourism department wants to implement the same plan in the upstream of Prakasam barrage.
As part of the plan, the State government removed several encroachments and shifted the residents of the area to some other locations.
Tourism department official K Rehman said that the sitting provision works would be initiated as early as possible to view the river.
He also said that once the sitting galleries were constructed, people can watch the water sports and air shows freely.
