Aquaculture key to Gross State Domestic Product growth

Vijayawada: The three-day Aquabiz India-2018 conference and exhibition concluded with the participation of aqua farmers, industry members and consumers here on Sunday. The Aquabiz-2018 was organised by Confederation of Indian Industry in association with Department of Fisheries, Government of Andhra Pradesh.

The conference focused on the theme ‘Sustainable Development, Technologies and Opportunities in Fisheries Sector’ which deliberated on various issues of aquatic animal health management and post-harvest technologies.  

Addressing the valedictory session, V Usha Rani, Director General of the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, said that the exhibition was successful in bringing all stakeholders together for addressing the issues of aquaculture sector in the State.  

She also felt that aquaculture sector has been contributing immensely to Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) of AP. It is imperative to sustain the growth of aquaculture sector for the overall development of the state, she added. Dr Seshaiah V Pamulapati, chairman – Aquabiz 2018 and CMD of PVS Group, thanked all the stakeholders for attending the event and making it a success.

Some of the prominent persons including former Chief Secretary S P Tucker, Executive Vice-Chairman of APEDB, Gadde Anuradha, chairperson of Krishna Zilla Parishad, B Lakshmikantham, Collector, Rama Shankar Naik, Commissioner of Fisheries, RVS Rudraraju, Chairman of CII Andhra Pradesh & Director, RHI Clasil Pvt Ltd and D Tirupathi Raju, Convener, Food Processing Panel and Executive Vice-Chairman of Vijay Nagar Biotech Pvt ltd were also present.
